Radon Testing for Homes & Businesses

Radon is invisible, has no smell and cannot be detected without testing. A simple three month test helps you understand the radon levels in your property. Contact us to arrange your test kit.

The process

How Does Radon Testing Work?

Testing is straightforward and does not require major work or disruption to your property. We can guide you through the process from arranging detectors to understanding your laboratory results.

01

Arrange your test

Contact Dublin Radon Services to arrange a three-month radon test for your home or workplace.

02

Position the detectors

For a typical home test, two small passive detectors are placed in the main living room and a regularly used bedroom. We provide placement guidance.

03

Leave them for three months

The detectors remain in position for approximately three months to measure your average exposure over time.

04

Laboratory analysis

After the testing period, the detectors are returned for analysis by an EPA-registered radon measurement service.

05

Understand your results

You'll receive your radon result in becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m³), together with guidance on whether further action is recommended.

Understanding Your Radon Results

Radon results are measured in becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m³). The result helps determine whether steps are needed to reduce exposure.

Ireland has different radon reference levels for homes and workplaces. We can help you understand the relevant guidance and what your result means for your property.

Homes — national reference level

200 Bq/m³

Workplaces — national reference level

300 Bq/m³

Even below these reference levels, reducing radon exposure where reasonably practical can provide health benefits.

What Happens If Your Result Is High?

An elevated result does not automatically mean major building work is required. The next step depends on the result, property construction and appropriate guidance. Where necessary, we can assess remediation options such as sump systems or ventilation. Follow-up testing is important to check whether remedial work has reduced radon levels.
